Focus, focus, focus

Yesterday, I took 308 photographs. My family was grilling me about my method, so I thought I would share. I reframe each shot. I often step backwards and move back into the image I am capturing each time I push the shutter. If I don't physically move, I move the camera. I actually manually refocus each shot. I also might adjust the aperture. And definitely, check the exposure and adjust the shutter if necessary for each shot. I do this because my preference is to crop in the camera, not in Photoshop. I enjoy taking pictures, so I figure I would rather play out in nature instead of playing with the images behind my computer.

Here's a video from yesterday. You can see and hear the breeze moving my picture. This is another reason that I constantly reframe, refocus, and check the exposure every time I push the shutter. If you are shooting on automatic or program, switch to manual and see what happens. When I learned to take photographs on slide film... it had to be right. Today, you have the luxury of deleting unwanted/incorrect images. But, I delete at home, not in the field, so I don't accidentally delete something I might have liked.
